On April 4th 2006, Microsoft announced the formation of the BioIT Alliance. This alliance was formed to help bring disparate industries together to help speed the development and communication for personalized medicine. Bringing the hardware, software, biotech indistries together should open up a new world of applications and devices that will bring the dreams of the future closer to reality.
